The medical state of Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens and all Greece remains stable, who has been hospitalized since yesterday in the Intensive Care Unit of Evangelismos Hospital after having been diagnozed with COVID-19.
According to the medical bulletin, the Archbishop has undergone all the required examinations and received the appropriate medication, according to the instructions of the physicians.
It is reminded that the Archbishop tested negative for COVID-19 on both rapid and molecular tests, which he underwent after the meeting of the Standing Holy Synod and before his meeting with Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis. However, he tested positive on the scheduled molecular test he underwent on the night of Monday, November 16.
“I personally participate as a shepherd in the ordeal that concerns thousands of our brothers in our country and millions throughout the Universe. I share in the agony and pain and fear of all, that with our Faith in God we will all overcome,” the Archbishop stressed to his close associates shortly before his admission to the hospital, emphasising the sacred obligation of all of us to respect the rules and the measures of the competent health authorities of the State to protect the supreme good of human health and life.
In addition, the head of the ICU in “Evangelismos” Hospital, Anastasia Kotanidou, stressed in a statement she made yesterday on OPEN TV that the Archbishop of Athens had a stable health condition for the moment. “He has a fever, he is rather weak and his oxygen saturation is under control. That is why he was admitted to a high-dependency unit since his health condition requires enhanced medical attention,” she added.
