Large numbers of faithful attended the churches on the Saturday of Souls in Albania. Memorial services for the repose of the souls of the departed were held at the Archdiocese of Tirana (at the Church of the Annunciation of the Theotokos and the parish of St Prokopios), in Durrës (at the Church of the Apostle Paul and St Astios), as well as in the Metropolises of Korçë, Berat, Gjirokastër, Elbasan, and Fier, on the Saturday of Souls, March 6, 2021.
The Orthodox faithful came to the churches with kollyva and prayed for the repose of the souls of the departed.
Metropolitan Astios of Berat presided over the Divine Liturgy at the Church of St Demetrios in Berat and, following the service, offered a Trisagion at the grave of the late Metropolitan Ignatios.
Metropolitan Nathanael of Gjirokastër presided over the Divine Liturgy during the vigil at the pilgrimage church of St Paraskevi in Teriachates (Terihat), toward the end of which the Trisagia of the Saturday of Souls were also served.
Addressing the faithful, the Metropolitan emphasized that we are called to pray for the departed and to keep them alive in our memory.
