On January 7th, according to the Julian calendar, the Birth of Christ was solemnly and reverently celebrated in the churches of the Holy Metropolis of Pisidia – of Saint Alypios in Antalya, of Saint Paul in Side and of Theotokos of Pisidia in Alanya.
This year, following the massive arrival of Orthodox in the region, whose number exceeds 50,000 Russians and 18,000 Ukrainians according to the Regional Governor of Antalya, two Divine Liturgies (one at midnight and one in the morning) were held in the churches of Antalya and Alanya, which were crowded with believers.
In addition, on the same day of the great feast of the Lord, the Divine Liturgy was celebrated for the first time in a small chapel, recently created in Konyaaltı (a western district of Antalya), with the aim of developing a second parish in city. It was attended by about fifty believers.
