On Friday, May 27, 2022, Metropolitan Zachariah Mar Nicholovos was received by His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of America, the Primate of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, at the Archdiocesan headquarters in Manhattan. The Hierarchs discussed various topics of concerns which included ministerial challenges, existing theological dialogues/agreements between the Oriental Orthodox & Eastern Orthodox Churches, and theological education in North America.
His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros, also spoke on the centennial celebrations of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, along with the upcoming consecration of the Saint Nicholas National Shrine at the World Trade Center. It is worthy to note, the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church was represented at the historic “laying of the corner stone” of the shrine in October of 2014.
The two Hierarchs shared a common meal, and exchanged gifts in celebration of their joyful meeting. They also agreed to meet more often to strengthen the relationship between both the Northeast American Diocese and Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America.
Metropolitan Nicholovos’ delegation included Rev. Fr. Thomas Paul, Chancellor, Rev. Fr. Daniel Mathai, Executive Assistant to the Metropolitan. Also in attendance on behalf the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese included V. Rev. Archimandrite Vasillios Drosos, Advisor, Rev. Fr. Eleftherios Constantine, Director, Office of the Archbishop, and Archdeacon Dionysios Papiris, Office of the Archbishop.
