The theologians of Georgia sent a letter of support to Archbishop Chrysostomos of Cyprus, regarding the recognition by the Church of Cyprus of the autocephalous Church of Ukraine.
The letter stated that they also hope that the Orthodox Church of georgia would “overcome the existing fears and become the next Church to recognise Metropolitan Epifaniy of Kyiv as Head of the autocephalous Orthodox Church of Ukraine.”
Read the letter below:
Your Beatitude,
We were very pleased to announce the decision of the Holy Synod of the Orthodox Church of Cyprus, which decided on the recognition of the Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Ukraine and on the Eucharistic communion with it by testifying and interpreting correctly the word of Truth.
We personally commend this great and decisive step, which You and the Most Reverend High Priests have taken. We are especially grateful for this and we express our support as “the pride of their strength is You, and in Your goodwill, we will be exalted.”
We hope, like the Orthodox Church of Georgia, to overcome the existing fears and doubts and to become the next Church that will recognise Metropolitan Epiphaniy as the Head of the autocephalous Orthodox Church of Ukraine.
