Today, January 9, 2025, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew and the Members of the Holy and Sacred Synod received the newly elected Metropolitan Sevastianos of Atlanta at the Ecumenical Patriarchate for the Lesser (Micro) Minima. Archbishop Elpidophoros of America and Metropolitan Sevastianos arrived directly from Tarpon Springs, FL where one of the largest Epiphany celebrations in the world occurred on January 6.
Metropolitan Sevastianos, during the Lesser Minima, accepted his election and addressed Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew and the Synod, expressing his deep joy and gratitude for this honor. Find the link to his remarks in Greek and English below.
Following the Lesser Minima, the Mega (Greater) Minima was celebrated in the presence of the Synod, the Patriarchal Court, Archbishop Elpidophoros and clergymen and lay leaders and the official election was announced.
The Enthronement Service will be held on January 25, 2025 at the Annunciation Cathedral in Atlanta.
The Holy and Sacred Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate elected Bishop Sevastianos of Zela as the new Metropolitan of Atlanta on December 2nd, 2024.
