Archbishop Anastasios of Tirana, Durres and all Albania will be honored with the Klaus Hemmerle 2020 Prize, on Friday, February 14, 2020 at 7pm at the historic Aachen Cathedral in Germany. This honor is awarded every two years by the Fokolare Movement to international personalities who have helped to reach and understand communities with different cultural and religious traditions.
The Laudatio will be read by Cardinal KurtKoch, President of the “Pontifical Council for the Promotion of Christian Unity” (PCPCU). In his thankyou speech, Archbishop Anastasios will shortly address the topic of “Peaceful coexistence in a multi-religious world”. The ceremony will conclude with a classical music program.
Fokolare is a Roman Catholic “Movement of Spiritual and Social Renewal”, which aims at the prevalence of peace and the harmonious coexistence of people and peoples. They have about 140,000 members and operate in 180 countries. Since 2002 they have established this prize in honor of the spiritual “bridgeman” Klaus Hemmerle (1929-1994), who was Bishop of Aachen (1975-1994) and Professor of the Philosophy of Religion.
The German translation of Archbishop Anastasios’s book “Mission to the Footsteps of Christ”, recently published with the care of the University of Friburg, Switzerland, will be available to those interested in the event.
