Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu informed families of hostages held in Gaza that his government has accepted a new ceasefire proposal presented by U.S. Special Envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, according to Israeli media reports.
The Palestinian organization Hamas confirmed earlier that it had received the proposal through mediators and is currently reviewing its terms.
According to Israeli media sources, the plan includes a 60-day ceasefire and the release of ten Israeli hostages. In exchange, Hamas is expected to return the bodies of 18 abducted individuals, while Israel would release a number of Palestinian prisoners from its jails.
The proposal reportedly outlines that if Israel and Hamas reach a broader agreement to end the ongoing war during the two-month ceasefire, the remaining hostages held in Gaza would also be released.
Humanitarian aid distribution within the Gaza Strip would be resumed and managed by the United Nations and other international relief organizations, according to the plan.
