The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced today that Israel’s recent attack on Iranian territory constitutes a “declaration of war” and urged the United Nations Security Council to respond promptly.
In a letter addressed to the United Nations, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi described the Israeli attack as “a declaration of war” against Iran and called on the Security Council to “immediately address the issue,” according to an official statement from the Iranian Foreign Ministry.
Meanwhile, Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, appointed new commanders for the Iranian Armed Forces following the deaths of their predecessors during the Israeli strike.
Iranian state television also reported that a senior advisor to Ayatollah Khamenei, Ali Shamkhani, was wounded this morning in the Israeli attack against the Islamic Republic.
“Ali Shamkhani, advisor to the Supreme Leader, (…) was injured in today’s attack carried out by the Zionist regime,” the state broadcaster said, referring to Israel.
