On the afternoon of Sunday, September 27, another fundraising event took place in the parish of St. Panteleimon in Glenelg, Adelaide.
With the spiritual guidance of Bishop Silouan of Sinope, the Central Philoptochos always organises events that benefit both body and soul. The focus of the event was the Supplicatory Canon to the Most Holy Theotokos, in the Church of Saint Panteleimon, officiated by Bishop Silouan, with the participation of priests of the Archdiocese of Adelaide and members of the Adelaide Ecclesiastical Choir “Saint John of Damascus”.
In his sermon, the Bishop made specific reference to the issue of abortions, which currently concerns the Parliament and the people of the state of South Australia, as an unholy effort is made to legalize them.
In the afternoon tea, which followed, the attendees enjoyed each other’s company in Christ.
Through this successful event the amount of $ 2,000 was raised for the Central Philoptochos.
Bishop Siluan wished “God to continue to bless the work and kind efforts of the hard-working ladies of the Central Philoptochos.”
