The Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew visited the Holy Theological School of Halki on Thursday, July 9, 2026, accompanied by Grand Archon Exarch of the Great Church of Christ and Ecumenical Grand Benefactor Mr. Athanasios Martinos, President of the Brotherhood of Offikialioi of the Ecumenical Patriarchate “Panagia Pamakaristos,” and his wife, Mrs. Marina Martinos. The couple has undertaken the entire cost of the comprehensive renovation of the School’s historic building complex.
After venerating in the Katholikon of the Monastery of the Holy Trinity, the Ecumenical Patriarch and the Archon toured the facilities of the School and were briefed by those responsible for the project on the progress of the restoration works, which are expected to be completed in the near future.
Also present at the School was a delegation of the Monastery’s Administrative Committee, under the chairmanship of Elder Metropolitan Apostolos of Derkoi, as well as Ambassador Konstantinos Koutras, Consul General of Greece in the City.
The Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew expressed his satisfaction with the progress of the works, which will significantly enhance the historic building of the Theological School, and once again conveyed his gratitude to the Archon and his wife for this important contribution to the Ecumenical Patriarchate.
