Archbishop Elpidophoros of America, serving as a member of the Holy Synod, was welcomed yesterday at the Ecumenical Patriarchate by the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew.
Archbishop Elpidophoros presented the Ecumenical Patriarch with a gift of a Hierarchal Pendant, or engolpion, which featured the icon of the Apokethelosis, when the Virgin Mary beheld the body of Christ as He was taken off of the Cross. Accompanying Archbishop Elpidophoros is Protopresbyter of the Ecumenical Throne Evagoras Constantinides of Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Cathedral of Brooklyn.
