The iconography project at Saint Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Williamsburg, Virginia, has been completed by the Christodoulou Iconography Studio.
According to an announcement, the project aimed to enhance the church both spiritually and aesthetically by highlighting the tradition of Orthodox iconography and Byzantine sacred art.
The iconography was carried out in accordance with the principles and traditions of the Orthodox Church, with particular emphasis on artistic quality as well as the liturgical and spiritual character of the church. Individual compositions and figures were created with careful attention to detail and designed to integrate harmoniously into the interior of the church.
The Christodoulou Iconography Studio noted that through its work it seeks to serve the tradition of Orthodox iconography and bring Byzantine art to churches and places of worship both in Greece and abroad.
The studio described the completion of the project at Saint Demetrios in Williamsburg as another step in its efforts to preserve and promote the Orthodox iconographic heritage. Particular importance was also placed on strengthening the connection between Greek and Orthodox tradition and Greek-American communities in the United States.
Upon completion of the work, the Christodoulou Iconography Studio expressed its gratitude to Saint Demetrios Church, its parish community and everyone who contributed to the realization of the project.
