On Holy Wednesday, 16th April 2025, the Orthodox community of St Athanasios in Cambridge received an archpastoral visit from Archbishop Nikitas of Thyateira and Great Britain.
Upon His arrival, Archbishop Nikitas presided at the Service of Holy Unction, followed by the Service of the Washing of the Feet, joined by faithful from across the region. At the conclusion of the services, Archbishop Nikitas was welcomed by the Reverend Presbyter Gregory Craveiro, recently appointed Priest-in-Charge of the community, and the V. Revd Archimandrite Theofanis Petrou, who conveyed the parish’s deep appreciation for this significant and timely visit.
Following the services, the Parish Council hosted a reception in honour of Archbishop Nikitas and the Bishop. The gathering offered a warm setting for fellowship and reflection, and allowed Archbishop Nikitas to engage personally with the faithful, offering encouragement and pastoral insight during this sacred time of Holy Week.
We give thanks to God for this blessed occasion and pray for the continued growth and flourishing of the Orthodox presence in Cambridge.
