The session of the Holy Synod on the issues of the pandemic and the COVID-19 crisis in Cyprus started at 10:00 during which scientists will brief the members of the Holy Synod on the issue.
Specifically, the Holy Synod met today, December 1, to discuss the stance of the Church of Cyprus towards the measures against the COVID-19 pandemic. According to hierarchical circles, the measures announced by the government are acceptable to all hierarchs.
According to information from CyNA (KYPE), at the beginning of the session of the Holy Synod, the Archbishop announced that Metropolitan Georgios of Paphos would not attend the meeting due to his contact with a confirmed COVID-19 case.
In his statements to CyNA, the Metropolitan of Paphos stated that he did not attend today’s session due to the fact that he had come in contact with a COVID-19 case in the previous days.
The Metropolitan of Paphos noted, however, that he has undergone the molecular PCR test and he tested negative for COVID-19 both times.
The meeting of the Holy Synod is in progress.
