The Holy Synod of the Church of Albania is currently holding an extraordinary meeting following the passing of Archbishop Anastasios on Saturday morning at Evangelismos Hospital in Athens.
According to sources from orthodoxtimes.com, the Synod in Tirana is convening to finalize arrangements for the late Archbishop’s funeral service. As per the same information, the funeral is scheduled to take place on Thursday at the Cathedral of the Resurrection in Tirana, the Albanian capital.
Further details regarding the funeral proceedings and the participation of Church Primates are expected to be announced in the coming hours. Reliable sources have informed orthodoxtimes.com that the body of Archbishop Anastasios may first be transferred to the Metropolis of Athens for a Trisagion service, after which it will lie in repose, allowing the faithful to pay their final respects.
