Feast of Saints Constantine and Helene celebrated with joy in Northbridge

The feast day of Saints Constantine and Helene was joyfully celebrated on Wednesday, 21 May, at the church bearing their name in Northbridge, within the Holy Diocese of Perth.

The celebrations commenced on the eve of the feast with the service of Great Vespers and continued the following day with Matins and the Divine Liturgy, co-celebrated by Fathers of the Diocese. Bishop Elpidios of Perth was unable to attend, as he was in Sydney participating in the extraordinary session of the Holy Eparchial Synod of the Archdiocese of Australia, convened under the presidency of Archbishop Makarios of Australia.

At the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy, the traditional procession with the Icon of the Saints took place, marking the culmination of the sacred services.

In attendance were representatives from the Hellenic Community of Western Australia, the Castellorizian Association of WA, and staff and students from St Andrew’s Grammar. Notably, the Consul of Greece in Perth, Ms Eleni Georgopoulou, was also present, celebrating her name day for the first time since her appointment to the post.

On behalf of Archbishop Makarios and Bishop Elpidios, the reverend Fathers extended heartfelt blessings and best wishes to the Consul on the occasion of her name day and presented her with a bouquet of flowers.

Following the church services, a complimentary celebratory morning tea was offered in the adjacent hall for all the faithful in attendance.

It is worth noting that the Church of Saints Constantine and Helene in Northbridge celebrated its centenary last year, marking 100 years since the laying of its foundation stone.
