Archbishop Makarios of Australia was warmly welcomed by President Harris Danalis and the members of the Board of Directors of the Greek Orthodox Community of New South Wales during his first and historic visit to the Organization’s offices, which took place on Thursday, December 1, 2022.
The visit is characterized as historic, as for the first time, an Archbishop of Australia visited the headquarters of the Greek Orthodox Community of NSW in Lakemba, Sydney, and attended a formal meeting with the President and the members of the Board of Directors.
The Archbishop, who was accompanied by the Protosyncellus of the Holy Archdiocese, Archimandrite of the Ecumenical Throne Christoforos Krikelis, Archimandrite Stefanos Tinikashvili and Archdeacon Athinagoras Karakonstantakis, had the opportunity to meet all members of the Community Administration and discuss, in an excellent climate, issues of mutual interest. At the same time, the Archbishop had the opportunity to see the plans for the Community’s future facilities and to wish the President and the Members a speedy conclusion and success.
During the discussion, the common will of the parties for unity, and cooperation was expressed, which ensure the prospects for a hopeful future, as Archbishop Makarios stressed.
