After coordinated efforts by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in cooperation with the Ministry of Digital Governance, the historical archive of the Greek Orthodox community of Venice is included in the national digital strategy, according to a post by Deputy Foreign Minister Kostas Vlasis on social media.
The archive is kept in the Hellenic Institute for Byzantine and Post-Byzantine Studies in Venice, which remains unused and inaccessible to researchers and the public.
“Documents, manuscript codices and heirlooms from the 15th century until 1950 will be digitized so that they can be used by the researchers and the academic community,” said Kostas Vlasis.
