The Hierarchical Divine Liturgy was performed in the Chapel of the Holy Metropolis of Zambia in the morning.
The service was performed by observing the precautionary measures to curb the spread of the coronavirus which were announced last night. Zambia has recorded the highest number of COVID-19 infections since the beginning of the pandemic.
Representatives of the Slavic-speaking Orthodox Russian, Serbian and other communities attended the service in Lusaka. The Metropolitan of Zambia expressed the wishes on behalf of the Patriarch Theodore II of Alexandria and referred to the importance of celebrating Christmas in Africa. It is essential to highlight the unity of faith and communion in the Holy and Apostolic Church of the Patriarchate of Alexandria.
He then blessed the Christmas loaves which were distributed to the representatives of the Orthodox communities.
