The health situation of Archbishop Eirinaios of Crete is constantly getting better. In an announcement issued on Monday by the Holy Archdiocese of Crete, it is reported that the Archbishop responds very well to physiotherapy and cooperates excellently with the treating physicians and the nursing staff of the University General Hospital of Heraklion, where he is currently treated.
In the same announcement, the Archdiocese asks for the understanding of those who feel the need to visit the Archbishop in the hospital, but this is not possible at the moment. “We know the love and interest of the people of our place for our shepherd,” notes the Archdiocese, “so that many faithful want to visit the Archbishop in the hospital.” “However, this is not possible and we ask for everyone’s understanding,” it is pointed out, “Due to the COVID-19 restrictive measures, no one is allowed to visit somebody in the hospital but, despite all of this, the hospital visits present a risk of transmitting germs to the Archbishop while mass gathering is inconvenient for the Archbishop, the physicians and the nursing staff. We assure you that the wishes and respects of all are conveyed to the Archbishop by the those in charge.
Finally, it is requested once again the understanding of the clergy, the monastic brotherhoods, the flock of the Holy Archdiocese of Crete and the many spiritual children of the Archbishop, and the Archdiocese asks the faithful “to continue to pray for the health of our shepherd.”
