The Head of the European Union Delegation to Turkey, Ambassador Nikolaus Meyer-Landrut, paid a visit to Nichori on Wednesday, the 3rd of March 2021.
Nikolaus Meyer-Landrut was accompanied by his colleague Eleftheria Pertzinidou and other high-ranking EU Delegation officials.
They were guided by the president of the Community, Lakis Vigas, to the Church of Panagia Koumariotissa, the chapel of Saint Theodore of Byzantium, and to the courtyard, where they were informed about the history of the church.
The Ambassador had earlier visited the Ecumenical Patriarchate and the Great School of the Nation.
The official acquaintance visit is part of the contacts of the representatives of the European Union with the religious minorities living in Turkey, and therefore Meyer-Landrut, during his new duties, visited Nichori to talk with Vigas, who was the first representative of non-Muslim charitable associations in Ankara in the period 2008-2014, and find out about the issues of the minority.
