Belarusian authorities have not allowed the Head of the Catholic Church in Belarus to visit detainees in Minsk detention centres.
These are people who have been arrested during the recent demonstrations in the country, that is citizens who claim that the presidential election was rigged.
Archbishop Tadeusz Kondrusiewicz has in recent days repeatedly called on the authorities to release those detained during the protests. As he was not allowed to enter, he prayed outside the detention centre along with relatives of those arrested and other people. He was not allowed to enter. He prayed outside, in the rain, together with a group of believers, among whom were members of the Church (people of spirit) as well as members of the “Moms in Prayer” movement.
According to the announcement by the Catholic Church of Belarus: “Following the prayer, the Archbishop talked for more than an hour with the people who had been imprisoned in the detention centres and with volunteers who provide them with assistance.”
