The Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, received Metropolitan Arsenios of Austria, accompanied by his assistant, Bishop Maximos of Aristi; the Roman Catholic Bishop of Eisenstadt, Egidius; and the former head of the Evangelical Church in the Burgenland region, Manfred Koch, along with a large group of pilgrims from Austria, as well as another group from Germany and Luxembourg.
The Ecumenical Patriarch warmly welcomed them and, among other things, referred to this year’s 1700th anniversary of the convening of the First Ecumenical Council, which took place in Nicaea, and emphasized its significance for all Christians.
