The President of the Hellenic Republic, Konstantinos Tasoulas, addressed a message to Greeks living abroad on the occasion of the March 25 national anniversary, highlighting the enduring contribution of the Greek diaspora to the course of Hellenism.
In his message, the President noted that “with deep emotion we honor the anniversary of the National Rebirth,” describing it as a decisive historical milestone that “shaped the path of Hellenism worldwide.” He emphasized that remembrance is directed not only to the heroes of the Greek War of Independence, but also to Greeks of the diaspora, whose contribution proved crucial to the nation’s revival.
He underlined that the 1821 Revolution was both an armed and a spiritual struggle, with the diaspora playing a key role by turning major European cities into “vibrant centers of support for the cause,” while preserving Greek education and the ideals of freedom.
Referring to the present, President Tasoulas stressed that Greeks abroad continue to support their homeland by promoting its culture and preserving the Greek language and values. He added that, in a time of international instability, Greece remains “a stable beacon of democracy, peace, and stability,” defending national sovereignty and the rights of Hellenism.
At the same time, he expressed the State’s support for Greeks living in regions affected by crises, noting that “the Greek State stands by your side.”
Concluding his message, he addressed the diaspora with appreciation, stating: “Greece honors you and is proud that you are an integral part of our national journey,” encouraging them to celebrate the anniversary “with joy and pride” and wishing them “many years with health and progress.”
