Turkey must respect international and European laws in their entirety, President of the Hellenic Republic Prokopios Pavlopoulos said from Chania, Crete on Sunday.
Attending events for the 106th anniversary of the island’s incorporation to Greece, Pavlopoulos said that Crete never compromised with occupiers, “proving that for us Greeks freedom is a principle and an experienced value.”
This freedom will be defended against all, based on the entire international and European laws, “with a united front and without retreating or withdrawing. This is a message primarily to Turkey. We seek friendship and good neighborhood relations with it, as long as it respects the international and European laws in their entirety,” the president said.
