Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis will take part in the European People’s Party (EPP) leaders’ meeting that will be held on Friday and Saturday in Berlin. On the sidelines of the meeting, Mitsotakis will meet, among others, with the head of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) Friedrich Merz, with the President of the European parliament Roberta Metsola, the president of the EPP in the European parliament Manfred Weber and with the president of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides.
At Weber and Merz’s invitation, the EPP leaders, including 15 heads of state and government, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and European Parliament President Roberta Metsola, are meeting a few weeks ahead of the German elections and just days before US President-elect Donald Trump is sworn into office.
At the top of the meeting’s agenda is the EU’s position in the new international reality, matters of security, competition and tackling bureaucracy.
On the sidelines of the two-day Summit, which is being hosted at the headquarters of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation in Berlin, Mitsotakis, who is considered one of the strongest leaders in the EPP, will meet on Friday with the candidate of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU/CSU) for the chancellorship, Friedrich Merz.
