Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis discussed the future of Europe with French President Emmanuel Macron on Friday afternoon at an event held at the archaeological site of the Roman Agora in Athens.
The discussion, in which they both participated, was part of an event organised by the Kathimerini newspaper entitled “Challenges for Europe: The Way Ahead”.
These challenges represent unique opportunities for Europe. Progress is never linear. We must give substance to strategic autonomy. France and Greece are bastions of this effort, the Greek Premier emphasized, noting that this may be Europe’s moment in an era of global disorder.
He also noted that the necessity of persuading other EU partners regarding the need to mobilise European funds to meet our objectives. “The coming years will be of existential importance for the EU,” he stressed.
