Greek Orthodox churches in Melbourne hold dual services on Sundays due to coronavirus.
These include the Church of the Assumption in Coburg, the Transfiguration in Thomastown, St. Basil in Brunswick, and St. Charalambos in Templestowe.
In the midst of the pandemic, many believers of the Greek Diaspora feel the need to go to church on Sundays.
However, due to the pandemic and the measures that have been imposed, the number of believers who can fit in each church is limited.
Thus, as the Archepiscopal Vicar of Northcote, Archimandrite Evmenios Vasilopoulos, informed neoskosmos.com, some churches that have two priests hold two services on Sundays so that as many believers as possible can attend church.
These include the Church of the Assumption in Coburg, the Transfiguration in Thomastown, St. Basil in Brunswick, and St. Charalambos in Templestowe.
The first Divine Liturgy starts around 7 p.m. and lasts until about 9 p.m. and the second Divine Liturgy follows.
It is reminded that the faithful who want to go to church should inform the church of their parish in time. That is, to make a “reservation”.
