A solemn Doxology marking the Greek National Anniversary of March 25, 1821, (Greek Independence Day) was celebrated on Sunday, March 22, at the Cathedral Church of Saints Andrew and Demetrios in Madrid.
The service was presided over by Metropolitan Vissarion of Spain and Portugal, in the presence of the Ambassador of Greece to Spain, Apostolos Baltas, the Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus, Michalis Ioannou, representatives of the Hellenic Armed Forces stationed in NATO services in Madrid, as well as members of the Greek diaspora.
The celebration concluded with an address by Ambassador Baltas, who referred to the historical significance of the Greek War of Independence and emphasized the enduring relevance of its messages. He highlighted the importance of defending the principles of justice and peace, especially in today’s particularly turbulent international environment.
