The extraordinary meeting of the Government Council for National Security (KYSEA), chaired by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, concluded on Wednesday afternoon.
During the Council, there was an assessment of the latest developments in the Middle East following Iran’s attacks against Israel, the deputy minister to the prime minister and government spokesperson said in a statement.
There was also an assessment of the security situation, while the plan to evacuate Greeks from Lebanon was also discussed.
“Greece condemns in the strongest way possible Iran’s attacks against Israel. It is a serious escalation that threatens regional stability and security,” the spokesperson said in the statement.
He added, “Greece supports the people of Israel and their right to live in security and reiterates the call for an immediate deescalation. Greek authorities remain on alert at all levels, intensifying inspections and collaboration for exchange of information,” he added.
