Greece called the attitude of Israel’s national security minister toward Greek citizens participating in the Global Sumud Flotilla ‘unacceptable’ and ‘utterly reprehensible’.
At the same time, the statement said, and following an order by Greek Foreign Affairs Minister George Gerapetritis, a formal demarche was filed with Israel, while Israeli authorities were asked to speedily complete procedures and release Greek citizens immediately.
Specificalll, the Foreign Ministry said:
“The behavior of the Israeli national security minister that targeted citizens participating in the Global Sumud Flotilla is unacceptable and utterly reprehensible. By order of Foreign Affairs Minister George Gerapetritis, a demarche was filed related to the incident. We demand full respect of international humanitarian law and human rights and we call on the Israeli authorities to expedite all procedures and immediately release the Greek citizens.”
