Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias paid a visit to the Archbishop of Athens and All Greece Ieronymos II on Friday at noon.
They discussed current affairs and issues of common interest, while Nikos Dendias also referred to his planned trips to Libya and Ankara, “if Turkey maintains good behavior,” as he stressed. In fact, he said that before going to Ankara, he will visit Istanbul and the Ecumenical Patriarch.
“I had the pleasure and honor to be received by the Archbishop and to inform him about the wider national issues handled by the foreign ministry,” he said after the meeting.
On his part, the Archbishop expressed his joy at meeting with the minister and stressed that his appreciation is huge because he has the opportunity to see the progress in political and national issues. In addition, he noted that they were given an opportunity to discuss various issues of common interest, national, economic, health, due to the pandemic, but also Church-State relations that relate to the responsibilities of the foreign ministry.
