Greek Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis, in his closing remarks during the parliamentary plenary session on foreign policy issues, addressed the matter of the Monastery of Saint Catherine at Mount Sinai, emphasizing ongoing efforts to secure its preservation.
“What we are currently working on with the Egyptian government, within the framework of our excellent cooperation, is precisely an agreement that will, of course, be presented to the most competent Sinai monastic community at Saint Catherine, which will have the final word,” Gerapetritis stated.
He stressed that the agreement aims to ensure the continuity, sustainability, and, above all, the unaltered character of the historic monastery through the centuries.
“It is an issue that had remained unresolved for centuries, and we have undertaken the task of resolving it—just as we have done with many others,” the Foreign Minister concluded.
