On Saturday, March 28, Greek Deputy Prime Minister Kostis Hatzidakis carried out a series of meetings in Canada, aimed at strengthening ties with the Greek diaspora.
Accompanied by Greece’s Ambassador to Canada, Katerina Dimaki, and the Consul General of Greece in Toronto, Ioannis Chatzantonakis, Mr. Hatzidakis met with Archbishop Sotirios of Canada.
He also visited the Greek Orthodox School “Metamorphosis,” where he was briefed on the work and importance of Greek-language education within the community.
In addition, the Deputy Prime Minister held constructive meetings with Greek-origin politicians, including federal Members of Parliament Kostas Menegakis and Peter Fragiskatos, as well as provincial MPP Effie Triantafilopoulos.
Mr. Hatzidakis also met with prominent Greek entrepreneurs and members of the Greek community in Toronto, exchanging views on issues concerning the diaspora and exploring prospects for future cooperation.
