Greek Deputy Foreign Minister Kostas Vlasis arrived yesterday in Mariupol in southwestern Ukraine, where a large number of Greeks live in Ukraine.
In particular, the deputy minister visited the Mariupol State University and met the chancellor and the dean of the Greek Philology Department, and had a conversation with the professors of the department praising their work.
“The impact of the Greek language all over the world is really impressive, which is why its preservation and promotion by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is our priority,” said the deputy minister.
The deputy minister also paid an official visit to ‘Hippocrates’ Medical Center in Mariupol and the Greek village of Urzuf.
“Yesterday I visited ‘Hippocrates’ Medical Center in Mariupol and the Greek village of Urzuf, where I was warmly welcomed by the members of the local Greek association,” posted Vlasis on social media.
“The Greekness of the residents is maintained intact through the rich cultural and educational activity of the association and their love for Greece is more than obvious,” he added.
