The 1700th anniversary of Christianity being declared the state religion in Georgia will be marked with large-scale educational and cultural events, the Government Administration reported.
The anniversary events were discussed during a session of the Joint Commission of the Government of Georgia and the Patriarchate, which was held at the Government Administration.
The co-chairs of the commission are Irakli Kobakhidze, Prime Minister of Georgia and the Catholicos-Patriarch Shio of All Georgia.
The anniversary events, which will begin on May 26, will expand significantly from June 1 and will include cultural and educational programs, as well as scientific conferences and student expeditions.
The events dedicated to the 1700th anniversary of Christianity being declared the state religion will continue through the celebration of Svetitskhovloba. On October 14, a symposium titled as God, Homeland and Human Being is planned.
The anniversary events will be carried out in coordination between the Government of Georgia and the Patriarchate.
