Students from the Greek American community’s A. Fantis School, along with parents and chaperones, were welcomed at the Greek Parliament by Filippos Fortomas, Chairman of the Committee for Greeks Abroad and Member of the Hellenic Parliament.
Notably, last year A. Fantis celebrated its prestigious designation as a National Blue Ribbon School.
In his welcoming remarks, Fortomas recalled his earlier visit to New York, highlighting the strong ties between Greece and its diaspora.
“Greece will always be your home,” Fortomas told the students, emphasizing the vital role of the Greek Orthodox Church in preserving Greek heritage.
Fr. Evagoras Constantinides, who accompanied the students, thanked Fortomas for the warm reception and praised his leadership of the committee. Fortomas suggested making such visits a regular occurrence and took time to answer questions posed by the students.
Following the reception, the visitors toured the Greek Parliament and viewed the exhibition “Facing Freedom! At the Hellenic Parliament, Two Centuries Later,” held in the “Eleftherios Venizelos” hall.
