Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze will chair the government commission to organize issues related to the funeral of Ilia II, Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, Archbishop of Mtskheta-Tbilisi and Metropolitan of Bichvinta and Tskhum-Abkhazia.
According to the Government Administration, the commission will comprise Defence Minister/ Vice Prime Minister Irakli Chikovani, Minister of Foreign Affairs Maka Botchorishvili, Minister of Internal Affairs Gela Geladze, Minister of Culture Tinatin Rukhadze, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Mariam Kvrivishvili, Regional Development Minister Kakhaber Guledani, Finance Minister Lasha Khutsishvili, Head of the State Security Service of Georgia (SSSG) Mamuka Mdinaradze, Head of the Special State Protection Service Anzor Chubinidze and Head of the Government Administration Levan Zhorzholiani.
President Mikheil Kavelashvili, Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili, Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze and three representatives of the Georgian Orthodox Church (GOC) will contribute to the commission’s work.
Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, and Beatitude Ilia II, will be laid to rest on Sunday, March 22, in the Sioni Cathedral.
