Metropolitan Petru of Bessarabia received a visit on Wednesday from Dominique Waag, Ambassador of the French Republic to the Republic of Moldova.
The meeting marked the first official dialogue between the two institutions, intending to strengthen and develop future cooperation in spiritual, social, and cultural areas.
Strengthening Cooperation
On this occasion, Metropolitan Petru presented the history and mission of the Metropolis of Bessarabia as an integral part of the Romanian Orthodox Church, highlighting its goal of promoting Christian Orthodox values and supporting the European integration of the Republic of Moldova.
The Metropolitan also emphasized the philanthropic work carried out by the Church through parishes and charitable associations, as well as its efforts to preserve Bessarabia’s spiritual and cultural heritage.
Ambassador Dominique Waag listened with interest and expressed admiration for the pastoral, social, and educational work undertaken by the Metropolis of Bessarabia over the more than 30 years since its reactivation.
