The Holy Archdiocese of Australia informs its community and the general public that a fraudulent Facebook profile under the name “Eminence Archbishop Makarios” (www.facebook.com/eminencearchbishopmakarios) has been detected.
This profile has unlawfully used images of Archbishop Makarios of Australia, taken from the internet, with the intent to deceive users for unknown purposes.
It is important to emphasize that His Eminence does not have a Facebook account, whether profile or page. The only official social media presence of His Eminence is on Instagram at www.instagram.com/archbishop_makarios/.
The Archdiocese urges the faithful and all Facebook users to disregard this fraudulent profile and avoid any engagement with it, including sharing personal information.
Additionally, the necessary actions have been taken to have the fake profile removed.
