February 18 marks the fourth anniversary of the election of Patriarch Porfirije of Serbia, who was chosen as the 46th Serbian Patriarch by the Holy Assembly of Bishops of the Serbian Orthodox Church during its session at the Memorial Cathedral of Saint Sava in Belgrade on February 18, 2021.
Following his election, a thanksgiving service was immediately held, and the bells of the Saint Sava Cathedral in Vračar rang out just before 4:00 PM, announcing the appointment of the new Patriarch.
The solemn enthronement ceremony took place on February 19, 2021, beginning with a conciliar Divine Hierarchical Liturgy at the Holy Archangel Cathedral in Belgrade.
Since his election, Patriarch Porfirije has continuously shaped the history of the Serbian Orthodox Church through his liturgical services, canonical visits to dioceses, meetings with world and national leaders, charitable initiatives, interviews, and pastoral messages. His tenure has been marked by dedication to faith, unity, and service, reflecting the deep traditions of the Church of Saint Sava.
As he enters his fifth year as Patriarch, Patriarch Porfirije remains a guiding spiritual leader, fostering dialogue, strengthening Orthodox unity, and addressing key social and humanitarian challenges.
