On Saturday, Metropolitan Petru of Bessarabia received Prof. Dr. Emil Constantinescu, former President of Romania, at the metropolitan residence in Chișinău.
The meeting’s agenda was rich and diverse, covering a wide range of topics from Romanian history and culture to the challenges and prospects of the Romanian Orthodox Church in Bessarabia.
During the meeting, His Eminence Metropolitan Petru expressed his gratitude to President Constantinescu for his efforts to promote Romanian culture, spirituality, and civilization internationally.
His Excellency Emil Constantinescu appreciated the Metropolis of Bessarabia’s vital role in maintaining Romanians’ national and spiritual identity in the Republic of Moldova.
“It is an honour to be here today and to have the opportunity to discuss our shared past with His Eminence Metropolitan Petru and how we can continue to collaborate to promote our shared values,” stated Prof. Dr Emil Constantinescu.
“I express my gratitude for President Emil Constantinescu’s efforts to support our common values. Together, we hope to build a brighter future for our entire spiritual and cultural community,” Metropolitan Petru said on July 6.
Former President Emil Constantinescu currently serves as the president of the Institute for Advanced Studies in Levant Culture and Civilization. Originally from Bessarabia, he was on a several-day visit to the region.
The meeting concluded by reaffirming both parties’ unwavering commitment to strengthening collaboration and promoting peace and harmony among Romanian communities on both sides of the Prut River.
