The transition process in the Metropolis of Paphos has entered a new phase as former Metropolitan Tychikos vacated his residence within the premises of the Holy Metropolis of Paphos on the afternoon of Wednesday, June 3, 2026.

According to ecclesiastical sources, Tychikos removed all of his personal belongings from the small apartment where he had been residing and departed in accordance with arrangements made ahead of the assumption of duties by the newly elected Metropolitan of Paphos, Archimandrite Gregorios Ioannidis. The same sources reported that employees of the Metropolis found the apartment already emptied, with the keys left in the door.

His departure is regarded as another step in the preparations for the enthronement of the new Metropolitan, which is scheduled to take place on June 11, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. in the Metropolitan Church of Saint Theodore in Paphos.

Despite leaving the Metropolis premises, Tychikos has not yet publicly announced where he intends to reside in the coming period. The Holy Archbishopric of Cyprus has reportedly presented him with three possible options.

The first and most likely option, according to church circles, is for him to relocate to the Archbishopric of Cyprus in Nicosia, where he would continue to serve in his capacity as a bishop. This proposal is said to have emerged following consultations between the Archbishop of Cyprus and members of the Holy Synod, with the aim of ensuring ecclesiastical stability and continuity.

A second possibility under consideration is for Tychikos to reside in a privately owned home that he possesses in the Paphos district. A third option would involve renting alternative accommodation, with the associated costs covered through deductions from his remuneration.

Meanwhile, the Church of Cyprus is intensifying preparations for the ceremonies and events that will accompany the enthronement of Metropolitan-elect Gregorios Ioannidis, as the Metropolis of Paphos prepares to welcome its new spiritual leader.
