On Thursday, June 20, 2019, the graduation ceremony of the priests of the “Apostle Barnabas” Seminary of the Church of Cyprus took place, with the attendance of Hierarchs, many clergy and laymen.
The ceremony was initiated with a prayer, by the Head of the Seminary, Arch. Benedict Ioannou, with the arrival of Archbishop Chrysostomos of Cyprus, the Metropolitans Chrysostomos, former of Kition, Isaiah of Tamassos and Orinis, Porphyrios of Neapolis of the Church of Cyprus, the Exarch of the Holy Sepulchre in Cyprus, Metropolitan Timotheus of Vostra, the Abbot of the Monastery of Apostle Barnabas, Archim. Ioannis Ioannou, the chief secretary of the Holy Synod, Archimandrite Grigorios Mousouroulis and many clergymen.
Later, Archbishop Chrysostomos addressed words of paternal love to all attendees, clergy and laymen. He highlighted the importance of the priestly function and emphasized the way in which the contemporary clergy of the Church of Cyprus has been trained.
The diplomas were delivered to the graduates and the awards for excellence to the valedictorians, by the Archbishop of Cyprus and the Metropolitan of Tamasos, respectively.
At the event, on the occasion of completing the 70th anniversary of the foundation of the Seminary, all those who served as Directors, Curators or Professors of the Seminary and are still alive were honoured.
The event was completed with hymns and traditional chants from the Seminary’s choir, under the direction of Protopresbyter Dimitrios Demosthenous.
Finally, a reception was held for all attendees.
