On December 9, 2024, the Chapel of the Resurrection in Tirana hosted the solemn Service of the Formal Announcement of the Election (Mega Minima) of the newly elected Auxiliary Bishop of Kruja, Anastasios (Mamaj). The announcement followed shortly after his election by the Holy Synod of the Orthodox Autocephalous Church of Albania.
During the service, the minutes of his election were read, after which Bishop Anastasios formally proclaimed his gratitude to the Holy Synod and Archbishop Anastasios of Albania. He expressed his deep appreciation for the trust placed in him to serve the Church and its faithful.
Archbishop Anastasios, members of the Holy Synod, clergy, and laity extended their heartfelt congratulations and prayers to the new Bishop. His election marks a significant moment for the Diocese of Kruja and the broader Church in Albania.
The election, chaired by Archbishop Anastasios, was unanimous, in accordance with the Church’s Statute. As Auxiliary Bishop, Anastasios will also serve as a member of the Holy Synod, further contributing to the leadership of the Autocephalous Church.
The ordination of Bishop Anastasios is scheduled for December 15, 2024, at the Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ in Tirana, marking the official commencement of his ministry.
