On the morning of Friday, October 17, 2025, Bishop-Elect Antonios of Rodostolos celebrated the Service of the Formal Announcement (Mega Minima) of his election at the Patriarchal Church of Saint George at the Phanar, in the presence of the members of the Holy and Sacred Synod, Metropolitan Chrysostomos of Symi, members of the Patriarchal Court, as well as numerous clergy and lay pilgrims.
It should be recalled that on Thursday, October 16, 2025, the Holy and Sacred Synod, under its new composition effective from September 1, convened at the Phanar. Greetings were exchanged between Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew and Metropolitan Emmanuel of Chalcedon, the senior among the newly appointed Synodal members.
During that session, following a proposal by the Ecumenical Patriarch and at the request of Metropolitan Chrysostomos of Symi, the Synod, after a canonical vote, elected Archimandrite Antonios Patros, Abbot of the Holy Monastery of the Archangel Michael Panormitis, as Auxiliary Bishop to the Metropolis of Symi, under the historic title of the former Diocese of Rodostolos.
The ordination of the new Bishop is scheduled to take place on Sunday, November 30, 2025, at the Metropolitan Church of Saint John the Forerunner in Symi, according to the tradition and order of the Mother Church.
