On Tuesday 27th January 2026, with the blessing and canonical permission of Archbishop Nikitas of Thyateira and Great Britain, the Divine Liturgy was celebrated for the first time in the chapel of St Andrew the Apostle Greek Orthodox School.
The Liturgy took place within the context of the Archdiocese’s increasing pastoral care of the school, with a recently established chaplaincy, frequent assemblies for the feast days of the Church and contribution to matters of religious education and teaching.
Presbyter Gregory Florides celebrated the Divine Liturgy while Oeconomos Petros Georgiou chanted from the analogion of the new school chapel, in the presence of Christopher Martin, Headteacher, teaching staff and pupils.
With this new liturgical and pastoral initiative of the Archdiocese, each year group will in turn participate in the Divine Liturgy at least once within the academic year. Following the eucharistic synaxis, Fr Gregory cut the traditional Vasilopita for the school and led two assemblies on the teachings and example of the Three Hierarchs.
