On the feast of the Nativity of Christ, December 25, 2025, the Primate of the autocephalous Orthodox Church of Ukraine presided over the solemn Divine Liturgy at the Cathedral of St. Michael’s Golden-Domed Monastery in the capital.
Metropolitan Epifaniy of Kyiv and All Ukraine was concelebrated by the Abbot of the Golden-Domed Monastery, Archbishop Agapit of Vyshhorod, Bishop Ephrem of Vasylkiv, the brotherhood of the monastery, and invited clergy.
After the Gospel reading, the Metropolitan delivered the Christmas Message and offered a special prayer to the Lord for the homeland, which is enduring a time of severe trials and danger.
During the service, prayers were offered for the soldiers defending Ukraine, for the authorities and the people, and for the repose of the souls of all fallen defenders of the homeland and civilians who lost their lives during the war.
At the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy, representatives of the Ukrainian scouting organization presented to the cathedral the traditional symbol of the Feast of the Nativity of Christ—the Bethlehem Peace Light.
The festive service concluded with traditional Christmas carols in praise of the Savior.
