At the historic Parish of the Archangels Michael and Gabriel at Ixelles Metropolitan Athenagoras of Belgium officiated at the Divine Liturgy on the occasion of the parish celebration, which was celebrated this Sunday, November 17, 2019, due to the visit of the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew.
Together with the Metropolitan of Belgium concelebrated Archmandrite Joachim Archontos, Preacher of the Metropolis, the Protopresbyter of the Ecumenical Throne, f. Stavros Triantaphyllou, Head of the Priests of the Parish, the newly ordained Hieromonk Filadelfos Kafalis, Director of the private office of the Metropolitan, and Deacons George Tzatzanis and Aimilianos Chatzivasiliou of the Holy Metropolis.
At the end of the Divine Liturgy, Metropolitan Athenagoras referred to the ordination to a Presbyter of Fr. Filadelfos Kafalis, former Archdeacon of the Metropolis, on November 10, 2019 by the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew at the Patriarchal Liturgy of the day. In particular, he said that Hieromonk Filadelfos Kafalis would continue to be the Director of the Metropolitan’s Private Office, and that he was a worthy and highly trusted clergyman.
Metropolitan Athenagoras also thanked the Head of the Priests for the work he has been doing since 1986 in the Holy Metropolis of Belgium from various positions.
Finally, Metropolitan Athenagoras ordained new Archdeacon of the Holy Metropolis of Belgium the Hierodeacon, Emilianos Hadjivasiliou.
